BAKLE Conference Paper Guidelines

These guidelines provide a platform for Korean language educators and researchers to share innovative teaching practices, classroom strategies and practical insights gained from real-world teaching experiences.

Purpose & Scope

Who and What

These papers are designed to facilitate knowledge exchange among practitioners and researchers and contribute to the professional development of the Korean language teaching community.

Who Should Submit

Korean language educators and researchers at all career stages who have valuable classroom experiences and practical insights to share.

What to Submit

Practical teaching approaches, innovative classroom activities, problem-solving strategies, reflections on teaching challenges, or any pedagogical insights that can benefit fellow educators and researchers.

Paper Structure

Key Components

Title

Brief, descriptive and easily understood by language educators and researchers.

Authors & Affiliations

Full names, departmental/institutional details, city, country and email addresses. Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*).

Abstract

A concise summary of the paper, up to a maximum of 200 words.

Keywords

Provide up to five relevant keywords beneath the abstract.

Manuscript Structure

Introduction (optional), Contexts (optional), Teaching Approach or Methods (essential), Findings (essential), Implications for Practice (optional), Acknowledgements (optional), References.

Figures & Tables

Embed in text, number sequentially and provide clear captions. All figures and images must be copyright-free or have permission to reproduce.

References

Ensure all references are complete and accurately formatted using APA (7th edition) style for both in-text citations and the reference list.

Manuscript

Structure

The structure can be adapted to best suit your content. The points listed under each section are suggested prompts to guide your writing, not a checklist you must fully complete.

Section 1Recommended

Introduction

  • Briefly describe the teaching context (e.g., student level, class size, institutional setting)
  • Explain what motivated you to develop or implement this practice
  • Provide relevant background information readers need to understand your approach
Section 2If Applicable

Contexts

  • Describe the specific teaching challenges or opportunities that your practice addresses
  • Explain why this issue is important for Korean language teaching
Section 3Essential

Teaching Approach or Methods

  • Describe your teaching practice, activity or strategy in enough detail for other teachers to implement it
  • Include specific examples, materials and key procedures
  • Explain the rationale for your approach, including any relevant principles or evidence
  • Outline how you implemented the practice in your classroom, step by step
Section 4Essential

Findings

  • Summarise what happened when you implemented this practice
  • Describe student responses, learning outcomes and your key observations
  • Discuss what worked well and what challenges arose
  • Reflect on the main insights gained from your experience
  • If appropriate, suggest possible directions for further exploration or research
Section 5Recommended

Implications for Practice

  • Discuss how other teachers might adapt or apply your approach in their own contexts
  • Offer practical advice or recommendations based on your experience
  • Indicate the types of learners, institutions or teaching situations where this practice may be particularly useful

Tone and Style

  • Use clear and accessible language
  • Avoid excessive jargon, but use professional terminology when needed
  • Aim to be specific and concrete rather than abstract

Quality Standards

  • Depth of exploration: show thoughtful analysis of your practice
  • Reflection informed by research: provide meaningful insights
  • Clear organisation: present ideas in a logical and coherent manner

What to Include

  • Specific and concrete examples from your teaching
  • Practical details that help others understand how to implement the practice
  • Reflection on both successes and challenges
  • Any available evidence of student learning or engagement

What to Avoid

  • Purely theoretical discussions without practical application
  • Vague descriptions that lack specific details
  • Promotional content for commercial products or services
  • Unsubstantiated claims about effectiveness

Formatting Requirements

1,500 words (excluding references)
Font
Times New Roman. Title: 14 pt bold. Body: 11 pt, double-spaced, margins 3 cm (top) and 2.54 cm (left, right, bottom). Section headings: 12 pt bold. Sub-headings: 11 pt italic. Lowest-level: 11 pt regular. No page numbers or running heads.
Numbering
Organise sequentially: 1, 2, 3…; 1.1, 1.2…; 1.1.1, 1.1.2…

British English
Korean Text
Provide original Korean text alongside its Romanised pronunciation following the National Institute of the Korean Language standard. E.g. 엄마야 누나야 강변 살자 eommaya nunaya gangbyeon salja
